Course Description

A short course designed for candidates with some knowledge and understanding of managing or maintaining mobile plant and equipment, and wishing to gain formal accreditation in conducting equipment inspections and audits. In NSW, the Resource Regulator has a requirement for the application of the Mine Design Guideline (MDG) 15. This course will provide the candidate the skills to conduct an MDG15 audit. Successful candidates will attain the following Unit of Competency, which may also be used as a credit transfer into other qualifications:

RIISAM301F – Test operational functions of vehicles and equipment

To obtain this Statement of Attainment, candidates must successfully complete the required assessment tasks.

Renee has over 20 years’ experience in adult education, training and assessment, and safety management with the majority of her time in the mining industry. Initial experience was working on site at an underground metalliferous mine in NSW for 5 years in the areas of training and development, safety and health. Then for the past 19 years Renee has been consulting to a range of industry sectors in the areas of principal hazard risk management, statutory legal compliance, systems auditing, work health and safety; and adult education and training. She has a lot of experience in the practical aspects of being a safety advisor or HSR on mine sites - to which this course is specifically aimed.

Renee has over 22 years’ experience in the minerals industry including conducting of over 200 x MDG15 compliance audits for mines and heavy industrial sites, OEM’s and suppliers such as Epiroc, WesTrac and Cavpower.

Renee possesses B.App.Sci; Cert IV WHS and Cert IV Training and Assessment. She has created procedures and checklists for a wide range of clients to improve their introduction of plant and equipment to site inspection and approval process. This has included through consultation with subject matter experts, the development of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Principal Control Plans, and all related standards including Plant Dossiers and machine audits.
