Ocurrio abides by the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (NCVER) in regard to the collection and disclosure of personal information as follows:
- As a registered training organisation (RTO), Ocurrio collects candidate’s personal information so it can be processed and managed to enable enrolment in a vocational education and training (VET) course.
- Ocurrio uses personal information to deliver VET courses, and otherwise, as needed, to comply with statutory obligations as an RTO.
- Ocurrio is required by law (under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (Cth) (NVETR Act)) to disclose the personal information collected about each candidate to the National VET Data Collection kept by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER). The NCVER is responsible for collecting, managing, analysing and communicating research and statistics about the Australian VET sector.
- Ocurrio is also authorised by law (under the NVETR Act) to disclose personal information to the relevant state or territory training authority.
Under the Data Provision Requirements 2012, Ocurrio is required to collect personal information about you and to disclose that personal information to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER).
Your personal information (including the personal information contained on the enrolment form and your training activity data) may be used or disclosed by Ocurrio for statistical, regulatory and research purposes. Ocurrio may disclose your personal information for these purposes to third parties, including:
- School – if you are a secondary student undertaking VET, including a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship;
- Employer – if you are enrolled in training paid by your employer;
- Commonwealth and State or Territory government departments and authorised agencies;
- Organisations conducting student surveys; and
Personal information disclosed to NCVER may be used or disclosed for the following purposes:
- Issuing a VET Statement of Attainment or VET Qualification, and populating Authenticated VET Transcripts;
- Facilitating statistics and research relating to education, including surveys;
- Understanding how the VET market operates, for policy, workforce planning and consumer information; and
- Administering VET, including program administration, regulation, monitoring and evaluation
You may receive an NCVER student survey which may be administered by an NCVER employee, agent or third party contractor. You may opt out of the survey at the time of being contacted.
NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the VET Data Policy and all NCVER policies and protocols (including those published on NCVER’s website at www.ncver.edu.au).
This notice applies across all websites that we own and operate and all services we provide, including the use of the third party software Axcelerate Training Management System. For the purpose of this notice, we’ll just call them our ‘services’.
We may need to update this notice from time to time. Where a change is significant, we’ll make sure we let you know – usually by sending you an email.

Information we get from third parties: The majority of information we collect, we collect directly from you. Where we collect personal data, we’ll only process it:

If we don’t collect your personal data, we may be unable to provide you with all our services, and some functions and features on our websites may not be available to you.
How we use your data

How we can share your data
There will be times when we need to share your personal data with third parties. We will only disclose your personal data to:
- other companies in the Ocurrio group of companies
- third party service providers and partners who assist and enable us to use the personal data to, for example, support delivery of or provide functionality on the website or services, or to market or promote our goods and services to you
- regulators, law enforcement bodies, government agencies, courts or other third parties where we think it’s necessary to comply with applicable laws or regulations, or to exercise, establish or defend our legal rights. Where possible and appropriate, we will notify you of this type of disclosure
- an actual or potential buyer (and its agents and advisors) in connection with an actual or proposed purchase, merger or acquisition of any part of our business
- other people where we have your consent.

The length of time we keep your personal data depends on what it is and whether we have an ongoing business need to retain it (for example, to provide you with a service you’ve requested or to comply with applicable legal requirements).
We’ll retain your personal data for as long as we have a relationship with you and for a period of time afterwards where we have an ongoing business need to retain it, in accordance with our data retention policies and practices. Following that period, we’ll make sure it’s deleted or anonymised.
It’s your personal data and you have certain rights relating to it. When it comes to marketing communications, you can ask us not to send you these at any time – just follow the unsubscribe instructions contained in the marketing communication, or make your request from Ocurrio web site contact us page.
You also have rights to:
- know what personal data we hold about you, and to make sure it’s correct and up to date
- request a copy of your personal data, or ask us to restrict processing your personal data or delete it
